Mission Report

Cardiac Arrest

20 March: Bury St Edmunds

Anglia Two was tasked to Bury St Edmunds to assist EEAST and a SARS response team with a man in his seventies who suffered a cardiac arrest. Pilots Martin Polding and Lee Kennedy landed the helicopter on a nearby field.

Doctor Drew Welch and Critical Care Paramedic Gary Spitzer gave the patient a full assessment and provided critical care at the scene, including anaesthetising the patient to protect his breathing.

The HEMS team then accompanied the man to West Suffolk Hospital, by land ambulance, for further treatment.
