I have worked for the East of England Ambulance service as a frontline paramedic since I graduated, and over the last 18 months as a lecturer practitioner seconded to the UEA, teaching student paramedics. I have always been very keen to continue my own education and development so had my sights set early on becoming a HEMS paramedic and have worked hard towards achieving this goal.
I feel extremely lucky and grateful to work for an organisation like EAAA, and still can’t quite believe I’m here. Currently I am six weeks into a three year secondment and I have been busy learning about the different equipment, drugs, all things aviation, enhanced pre-hospital care and policies and procedures. The learning curve is certainly a steep one, but I’m having a blast and everyone from the charity to clinical staff and the pilots have been very welcoming. It’s a pleasure to work with so many people that are genuinely motivated and all share the same values, with patient care always at the forefront.
