As part of the Anglia One (Norwich) crew, Dr Kieran attends a wide range of emergencies, which can include road traffic collisions, cardiac arrests and medical emergencies. In his role as EAAA, he brings the advanced skills, equipment and medicine, which are normally only found in a specialist emergency department, to the patient’s side in the fastest time possible.
With interests in trauma, blood products, ultrasound and toxicology, Kieran says he finds working on Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) missions really interesting and hugely rewarding when he contributes to improving patient outcomes. With HEMS missions, the crew never know to where they might be tasked next – it could be to somebody’s home, a built-up area, a rural location, or on one of the region’s beaches to bring urgent critical care to people when they need it most.
“I enjoy the unique diagnostic and clinical challenge of managing patients in an unfamiliar environment with limited diagnostic information.” Kieran says.
Outside of his work as a clinician, Kieran enjoys taking part in triathlons and spending time with his family.
