Captain Joe

Originally from Manchester, Captain Joe started flying in 2015 and initially worked as a Flight Instructor across the UK before transitioning to flying Offshore in the East Irish Sea. His ambition to fly Helicopter Emergency Medical Service flights came from a drive to be a key part of a small specialist team that aims to create a positive and direct impact to those in need.

Captain Joe joined EAAA as a Co-Pilot in 2023 and was promoted to Captain in 2025. As one of the Captains with EAAA, he has responsibility for the safety of the aircraft, the crew and passengers. He makes the final operational decisions, coordinates the team, and ensures pilots and the aircraft operate to the highest standards on every single tasking by air. He also supports and assists with the development of new pilots who join EAAA.

Captain Joe says, “The most rewarding part of my role is knowing that the work we do can change or even save a life in a matter of minutes. You see the direct impact of what you do, from getting someone to hospital faster to giving them the best possible care before they arrive. That’s an incredible position to be in, and it’s what keeps all of us coming back day after day.”
