It’s Doctor Nicola. And it’s Critical Care Paramedic Luke, Pilots Henrietta and Martin. Highly trained people on each lifesaving shift.

Our distinctive yellow helicopter carries our dedicated team on board – two skilled pilots and two, sometimes three, expert clinicians – with one aim: to reach the person in need of critical care in the fastest time possible and bring hospital-level treatment straight to the scene.

Every mission is powered by teamwork

The helicopters, pilots, and engineers are provided by our aviation partner Babcock, and the entire crew are a close-knit team who support each other and work in unison to reach patients in urgent need of critical care as quickly and safely as possible.

Our clinicians – doctors and critical care paramedics – bring a breadth of skills and experience to every patient. They come from diverse backgrounds which include critical care, intensive care, anaesthetics, emergency medicine (including paediatrics), pre-hospital emergency medicine, and the military. There is always at least one doctor and one critical care paramedic on each shift.

Our pilots, many with military experience, know how to navigate complex sites with precision and confidence.

But we don’t just attend emergencies by helicopter; sometimes we go by road. So, when we’re dispatched by critical care car, the critical care paramedic takes the wheel, enabling the doctor on shift to continue planning for the medical emergency.

Doctors

Our doctors are part of the close-knit crew working together to help people in their toughest moments. They come from all sorts of backgrounds – consultants, military medics, and pre-hospital emergency medicine – and they bring that experience with them every time they are tasked.

Critical Care Paramedics

Our paramedics are specialists too. From critical care paramedics to advanced practitioners, each plays an essential role. They work side by side with our doctors to give people the best possible care when serious illness or injury strikes. 

Pilots

Our pilots, provided by Babcock, are experts at what they do. Many have military experience, which means they know how to land safely in places most of us wouldn’t think possible. That skill matters because every emergency tasking is different, and the crew can be called anywhere at a moment’s notice.
